Listening with the heart

Today at mass the gospel reading was about the sheep hearing and knowing the shepherd's voice.  He said the meaning of obedience in Greek was to "listen with the heart". I can really embrace that definition whether it is in my relationship with God or my relationship with my future husband.  I need to keep that thought in mind.

  1. What a lovely idea! How many completely irrelevant things could we simply filter out if we could listen to what came from a source of true love and acceptance.
I wonder if this is what God meant when he said, "be still" to come away from the din and open ourselves to love....I will have to think about this one.

  2. I think you are right, Lillie. I do think if we could listen with love, we would be able to filter things out of your lives. I also think it might turn our attentions away from ourselves a bit. I've been working on that quite a bit. I am trying really hard to see people's motives and my motives and not let my feelings about what is done get to me as much. I like the think that is what God does and what God wants us to do.
